| Carole Pagan© 2006 So, I’m sitting here on a beautiful summer night enjoying the cool breeze and quiet calm, wondering what to write about this week. I look around. My house is clean and comfortable. I’ve eaten a healthy satisfying dinner. Over the past week -I’ve had company for dinner, cleaned up the beach, splashed around in the lake, taken walks, been to outdoor concerts, worked a little on the garden, watched sunsets, hung around talking to neighbors. What’s that you say? I have more time than you? Au contraire. I work a full time job, and run this business. I just make different choices on how I choose to use my time. I don’t regularly watch television. As a matter of fact, I can’t even get regular television where I live, and I’m not willing to pay for TV I won’t watch much anyway. That right there gives me a couple more hours a day than most people. I actually use the system that I teach you in Secret Confessions of a Clean Freak. My house stays pretty clean with little effort. I set reasonable daily goals. There are certain things that I set out to accomplish each day. There is another set of things I would like to accomplish should I find the time and energy, but the “must” finish things must be finished. When I need a break, I scale back the schedule. Like now. I had a few business problems a couple weeks ago, and finished up another big project, so I’ve sort of been taking it a little easier this week. But I have next week’s projects planned and I’m working through them in my head even while I’m relaxing. I take care of myself, eat relatively healthy, get exercise, try to get enough sleep, take my vitamins, and drink enough water – all so I can perform my best every day. I read something every day to improve myself either motivational, spiritual, or business. Usually all three. Continuous daily improvement- no matter how small - adds up over time. Every Day, In Every Way, I’m Getting Better and Better. And at the end of the day, even if I couldn’t get it all done, I forgive myself - I did the best job I could today. Tomorrow is another day. So, how can you get the most out of every day? Have a reasonable daily to-do list. Do things when they need to be done – don’t let it pile up. That includes dishes, housework, mail… Take care of yourself. Eat right, get enough sleep, drink enough water, take your vitamins, get exercise. Take breaks. Live life. Don’t just watch it on TV. Read or Do something to improve yourself every day –no matter how small. At the end of the day, go to bed knowing that you did the best job you could do today – and tomorrow’s another day. Repeat this every day-Every Day, In Every Way, I’m Getting Better and Better. She knows her stuff and gives easy, practical tips that see huge results. Listen up! Here are a my thoughts and experiences on a few of the tips that jumped out at me as being ultra effective. TELEVISION – Track how much you are really watching. If you work at home this is especially important. Are you taking up your work day with TV? Even cutting back one hour and replacing it with a focused, productive task will give you great results, maybe even bump you over the top to what you are aiming for if you have been struggling. Is your favourite show that important? Can you at least knock it back to every other day? Or pay attention, maybe you are just watching it out of habit and it isn’t even that great. Are you tired? Grab ½ hour nap instead and revitalize yourself to get even more out of the rest of the day. THE MUST THINGS MUST BE FINISHED – If I’ve learned one thing from Carole, it’s this one. It’s revolutionized my house cleaning schedule by giving me the tool I need to take it to the next level. I call these things non-negotiables. Don’t get carried away or you will set yourself up for failure. What are the most important things to you to see finished every day? Or maybe once a week? Mine have become the dishes each night by bedtime, wipe the bathroom (thank you Carole especially for that inspiration) and laundry put away. It has made my BOOST Circuit that much more effective and it really shows. READING – I love to read so it isn’t a stretch for me but I did get out of the habit for a few years. Then I started for even 10 minutes each night in bed before going to sleep. Guaranteed me time and it has opened up my world, there’s a lot of smart people writing books out there! I DID THE BEST JOB I COULD TODAY – This one is so important. Even running full tilt, some days it just isn’t enough. Take a deep breath, be proud of yourself for doing your best. You did well and tomorrow is another day. When I fall short I like to think – it’s better than it was. DON’T LET IT PILE UP – Enough said! My grandmother told me the trick is to pick up after yourself. Since getting Carole’s “Clean Freak” ebook and Life Overhaul ecourse, I’ve found myself picking small things up that I wouldn’t normally have done. I’m starting to see space where there was none. That’s freedom! WATER AND EXERCISE – I can’t stress enough the difference in my energy level when I am sure to drink my water – I see a huge difference even at 3 cups during the day – and to get some vigourous exercise into the day (a work out), a minimum of 3 times per week, and regular exercise in every day (a walk). If you aim for this, if you miss a few you will still see benefits. You’ll feel better, you’ll look better and you will be able to get out of bed earlier and jump into the things you need to do. Follow Carole’s tips and you will have a clean house to jump into to boot! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can achieve more, even if you think your life is too out of control.
